Escorted: Two Years On

Just over two years ago, Escorted was shortlisted for the All3Media New Writers Collective.

At the time, it felt like a significant moment. Not because I thought it guaranteed anything, but because it was the first real indication that a story I'd created was connecting with people beyond my own laptop.

Since then, the project has continued to evolve. There have been competition placements, conversations with producers, script revisions, new ideas and more than a few moments of self-doubt. In many ways, the script has changed as much as I have.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that writing a television drama is only the beginning. Developing a project requires patience, resilience and a willingness to keep improving the work while remaining open to feedback.

What has been particularly encouraging is the response to the characters. Escorted was always intended to be a story about relationships, loneliness, connection and the difficult choices people make when life doesn't go to plan. Seeing others engage with those themes has reinforced my belief in the project.

Whether Escorted eventually reaches the screen or not, the journey has already opened doors and taught me a huge amount about television writing and the development process.

For now, the work continues. New conversations are taking place, the scripts continue to evolve, and I'm excited to see where the next chapter leads.

As ever, I'll keep writing.
